Laying and consolidating concrete often involves traditional construction "technology" as you can see from the picture below. We use a range of  concrete finishing tools and mechanical equipment, depending on the concrete surface area and the designed use of the finished concrete surface.

While we work as a sub-contractor throughout Scotland most of our work is in the north and highland area of Scotland and on the Islands.

We are also proud of our smaller contracts where we work for private customers. This is often work done for private land owners, home owners, farmers, country estates and for businesses based throughout the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. No job is too small as we can often fit smaller contracts in between larger jobs carried for Local Authorities and construction companies.

We are very happy to work for private clients on small or large jobs and you will find out prices highly competitive, and our work very professional. The work we undertake for homeowners includes concrete drives and paving, raft foundations for buildings, hard standing areas for machinery to name a few.

A concrete floor is often the best solution for replacing flooring in older buildings as it then allows you to add a decorative surface such as tiles on a firm and sound, damp proof base.

Our service can be on a plant and labour only basis, where we provide the the team to lay the concrete floor to the required finish, or as a complete solution provider - we will then provide all equipment and materials to complete the job on time and to specification.

The work we do is always to a very high standard as demanded by building regulations and we are proud of our reputation for being first class in the quality of our work. Our work is often done as a sub-contractor to building and construction companies and we work within the project planning process to deliver and complete the work on time and on cost.

For smaller works we do contract directly with private clients and have many satisfied customers for building works (concrete) ranging from cattle shed floors, loading areas, concrete roads and hard standing and storage areas.

We can work directly with our clients or with architects, civil engineers and project managers responsible for the building contract. We are happy to provide technical guidance for works involving the use of concrete, flooring and roads.

We work safely, our company is proud to have had no serious accidents due to constant vigilance and safe working practices. All our work is to industry standards and by ensuring that we carry out a risk assessment before undertaking any large scale building work we aim at keeping our record in health and safety as good as is possible.

In the concrete and building industry we work with machinery and construction equipment: we ensure that all our employees are trained in the safe use of all equipment we use, as well as having a knowledge, understanding and awareness of site safety. While we may see sparks fly as you can see from the picture below we make sure that all our working practices keep workers and members of the public safe.

Concrete Surface Finishes - Power float

The use of specialist equipment  allows us to create a smooth surface for a wide range of purposes. As the concrete is compacted mechanically it helps improve the strength and durability of the finished surface by removing spaces and air from the concrete. The finished surface provides a clean, low dust surface suitable for a wide range of commercial uses.

A concrete floor, or concrete surface, finished with a smooth power float finish is used in a wide range of industrial and commercial buildings to create a clean, smooth finish that is easily kept clean or can be covered with another flooring material (carpets in shopping centres for example) to meet the planned use. As it is a strong load bearing surface the use of mechanical equipment can be used on it where other flooring materials would not allow this due to the weight of the machinery.

Concrete Roads, Parking Areas and Paving

Concrete can be the perfect solution for car parks, roads and paving where heavy vehicle use is to be expected, or occurs occasionally,  as concrete is stronger and longer lasting than the use of other road surfacing materials such as tarmacadam (tarmac) - concrete surfacing can be designed to meet the required load bearing use of the area.

Using concrete for roads, parking, loading bays and access paving is ideal where medium to heavy vehicle use is expected or may occur on occasion: fire engine and emergency vehicle access for example.

We use a brushed surface finish in these circumstances to provide traction and anti-slip surfaces that are also suitable for walking on.
